P6 visit 2010-2011 - Welcome to Magic World!!

3 December 2010 (Saturday)

We came to school early in the morning to get ready for a special event today. It is the P6 visiting day. Many pupils and parents from different primary schools visited our school. We helped in the Magic World.

We decorated the room and put up some decoration. We hung a lot of Christmas cards on the lights and dangling balls on the Christmas tree.

When visitors enter the room. We welcomed them and guided them to different sections. The first section is the game stations. We have prepared three games for our visitors. The first game is Sentence Game. The second game is Tongue Twisters, the third game is Antonyms Game. Visitors can try out any of the games. We gave out fabulous prizes if they can finish the tasks successfully.

The second section is the videos and books section. We showcased the videos in Magic World. There are some very good movies like 'The Lord of the Ring', 'Harry Potter', 'Dr Dolittle' and 'X-men'. Parents and students liked the movies, too.

The third section is the board games section. It is a very popular section. Students love to challenge the games. We introduced the games we usually play in Magic World. The games are 'Pictionary', 'The Story telling game', 'Scrabble' and more.

At the end of the day, we were exhausted. Nonetheless, it was meaningful to serve in the English Society and help in Magic World. We've learnt about how to welcome our visitors and how to introduce our activities to them. Cheers to all of us for our hard work!

5A Lam Chui Yi

Good morning principal, teachers and schoolmates. I’m Lam Chui Yi from 5A. Today, I want to share my love story – dress love to you.

Christmas party was approaching and it was the same time for John to express his feeling of love to Dana. Also, everyone knew John loved Dana.

John was walking along a snow-covered street. Suddenly, he saw Dana standing in front of the window. He noticed her walking away sadly in disappointment. After she had gone, John stood outside the department store and detected a beautiful dress. He decided to buy it to Dana. So, he got a job as he wanted to earn money and purchased the dress to Dana as a Christmas gift. Moreover, he wanted Dana to wear it to the Christmas party with him.

One month later, John was pleased that he earned enough money to buy the dress. He said, ‘Yeah! I can have a chance to be a partner with Dana.’ But something had happened.

Jack was faster than John. He had invited Dana to be his partner. John cried , ‘Jack, what’re you doing? You know I love Dana.’ He stood up immediately and said, ‘Sorry, John, don’t deliberately hurt you, but something is not easy to explain now.’ John was heart-broken as he lost Dana.

During the Christmas party, Jack felt conscientiously sorry. He told Dana everything that John had done for her and said, ‘Sorry, Dana. I invited you to be my partner as I lost a game that my sanction was to invite you.’ ‘Thank you, Jack! You told me everything. In fact I love John. The day I promised you to be your partner as I saw him.’ Dana said. Jack was rest assured and said, ‘Dana, go to find John. He is waiting for you for a long time.’ Dana nodded her head.

John was thinking when he could give the dress to Dana. At that time, Dana was running to him and hit John on the ground. John cried, ‘Oh … what’s wrong?’ Dana answered, ‘Sorry, dear!’ Are you OK?’ When John heard Dana’s voice, he stood up and looked like that nothing happened. Then, he gave the dress to her and said, ‘Dana, it’s your Christmas gift. I saw you looking at his dress in the department store before.’ Dana opened the gift and she didn’t say nothing. As she saw the dress, she kissed him.

That’s all for my sharing. Thank you.

5D Pong Kiu Chun

Good morning principal, teachers and schoolmates. I’m Pong Kiu Chun from 5D. Today, I want to share my short story review – Shotgun Wedding to you.

Do you think shotgun wedding is good? Do you think pregnant bride is poor? Last week, I read a short story called wedding. The author is Thomas Hardy. He tells how a bride wants to get married in a great hurry.

The story is inspiring. One November night, Andrew was at his neighour’s house, for a party to welcome a new baby. He had no sleep and a lot of strong drink. In the morning, Andrew and Jane went to the church to get married. But Andrew was still drunk. Parson told them, ‘No, I won’t help you both get married!’ Jane said, ‘Please will you go home and leave us here for two hours?’ After that, Parson went hunting and he forgot all about the unmarried man and woman locked in his church tower, and so did the clerk. The next morning, when Parson was having breakfast, the clerk reminded him, ‘Those two in the church tower – we forgot all about them! They’ll still be there!’ In the church tower, poor Jane and Andrew jumped out like hungry cats from a cupboard. Jane said, “Let’s get married first!” So they got married first.

The main character Andrew is heartless. He is a drunk guy. He always gets drunk. Nowadays in Hong Kong, a lot of heartless guys always have shotgun wedding. I think they should improve themselves. The character Andrew should improve himself to be a good father.

I recommend this short story to my friends because it teaches us not to be a heartless person and shouldn’t have shotgun wedding in our life. I also think that this story can remind a lot of lovers not to go wrong.

That’s all for my sharing in this morning. Thank you.

Welcome Party

On 4 October, 2010, our society hosted a welcome party for new members.

At the start of the party, this year's president, Ken Ko Chit Sze S4C(5), introduced our committee members and KLA teachers. They all came to the stage and took a group photo.

Then we played a game called "Bingo". Students have to compete to be the first three people to collect five counters, down, across or diagonal.
After "Bingo", we played a video showing the photos of last year's events. Everyone liked it when they find themselves in the video.

We also recruited new team members to help in International Interface and the Magic World. All members were enthusiastic in joining our activities.

We played a game called "The World's Extremes" where groups compete against each other, e.g. the representative with the heaviest schoolbag, finish a bottle of  drinks as fast as possible.

We all think that the party went well and all members enjoyed it.
